This regional study concerns stuctural geology of Levkas island (Northwestern Greece). First, stratigraphic setting of the two domains making the island ( Ionian and Paxos isopic zones) is briefly reviewed. Ages determinations on planctonic forminiferas allow us to complete the stratigraphy of the marly Neogene series. The stratigraphy of the continental Plio7Pleistocene to actual formations is described. A detailed study based on geological mapping allows us to precise the nature and age of folded and thrusted structures. They are characterized by a well-known westward vergence, nevertheless, several overturned folds and thrusts toward the East are observed. In the third part we emphasize the magnitude of Plio-Quaternary deformation. A decakilometric NNE-SSW trending bulging take place during the lower Pleistocene compressive phase. This bulge can be considered as an anticline folding upon which normal faulting occur. About 10 km long dextral strike-slip fault have been moving from lower Pleistocene (?) to Recent time in. the westernmost part of the island; they allow us to suppose the occurrence of a large offshore dextral strike-slip fault zone . In the fourth part, the structural analysis of brittle and ductile deformation is done to define the stress pattern of the island. In conclusion, we suggest, taking in account geological, geophysical and paleomagnetic data, a pattern of the geodynamic evolution of the northwestern part of the Miocene Ionian-Lycian arc then Pliocene Aegean. An annex contains the description of a fault tectonic analysis software working on a micro-computer.
