Clinical and biological modelization of intestinal failure in humans. Post absorptive plasma venous citrulline as a biomarker of absorptive enterocyte mass

In this thesis we demonstrate, for the first time, that plasma venous citrulline -an end derived product of enterocyte metabolisme- concentration is a reliable biomarker for intestinal failure assessment in humans in the following model: short bowel syndrome, villous atrophy syndrome, intestinal transplantation.
