Analysis of strain limits in the hole-flanging process

The hole-flanging process was studied on two sheets of aluminum alloys A1050 and A6061-H14-O. Mechanical characterization was performed using tensile and shear tests (monotonic and cyclic). Thanks to the results of this characterization, finite element models of 2D and 3D hole-flanging process were developed using isotropic and anisotropic yield criteria (Hill 1948). These models have been improved by a remeshing technique and taking into account the damage using both a non-coupled and a coupled model. Press tools have also been designed, built and operated to conduct experiments designed to validate the numerical results.
