Demographic analysis of the employed labor force of France

This study aims to analyze the demographic renewal of the employed labor force as a population. After a broad retrospective study of the employment rates evolution in France, this work uses the most recent French Labor Force Surveys (1968 - 2007) and the French demographic survey of 1999 for an expanded analysis of demographic factors of individuals' workforce participation. The evolution of the working week, the scheduling of inputs and outputs of the work situation, the first job experience, the end of the workforce participation and the temporary interruptions of workforce participation are introduced and used in the demographic analysis of the renewal of the employed labor population. Thus, this study shows up a greater concentration of professional occupation in the individuals' lifetime, from 1968 until mid 1990's, under the influence of a later first job experience and an earlier end of the workforce participation. On the other hand, since early 1970's, women aged 25-55 shows a higher workforce participation, under the conjunction of three positive effects: lesser proportions of professionally inexperienced women through generations, proportionally lesser woman whom temporary interruptions their workforce participation and through lesser proportions of women whom workforce participation ends prematurely. All of these developments are accompanied by an extreme dynamics of employment, with high annual turnover rates, which far exceeds 10% but from wich results a moderate growth of employed labor force population ; lower than the growth of population of working ages.
