The metaphor is a concept which presents double instability: defining and phenomenal. Our work will start hence with an epistemological analysis of the theoretical field of the metaphor. Two general approaches to the metaphor, distinctive or non distinctive, will be considered in details. We will be then led to focus on textual approaches to the metaphor. We base our work on the concepts of the conceptual integration though we have carried out a preliminary critical work considering the concepts of the indexical and interpretative semantic: (1) We will limit the application field of the integration exclusively to the metaphor. Two different logic will be intervening from now on: conformity logic vs. Integration logic (2) We will reduce the force of the reference, which essentially determines the content of the mental spaces, by calling on the semantic representations (3) We will point out that the initial spaces, far to be provided, are established within one activity of deployment. Further to a description of the case of the absurd sentence, our analysis will lead us to think that any metaphor is necessarily an extended metaphor. Thus, it will enable us to have a clear delimitation of our subject: the metaphor is based on the deployment of two thematic intentionally distinguished, two thematic, the deployed elements of which have the capacity to be able to be reintegrated in a new space to produce a considerable number of new and original implicitations. Once delimited, we will explore its formal specifications. Thus, we will outline the "user-friendly" character of the extended metaphor and will explain more precisely its impact on the degree of optimality of the integration network. We will eventually apply our theoretical device on the ordinary speaking and to the surrealistic poetry: two extreme types of data which will allow us to refine and sharpen our concepts and to check their validity.
