The main objective of this research project is to design a test-bench able to experimentally reproduce a blade-to-abradable interaction and to characterize the Metco M601 abradable liner deposited on the casing of the low-pressure compressor in an aircraft engine manufactured by Snecma.. The occurrence of unilateral contact and friction between the rotor and surrounding stator is not thoroughly investigated. For instance, the underlying dynamics of the blade is ignored. Moreover, the Metco M601 is obtained through thermal projection and, as a consequence, is very heterogeneous and features mechanical properties varying at the microscopic scale. Nevertheless, the investigation is limited to its macroscopic behaviour. The main objective of this work was to collect information relevant to the construction of efficient constitutive laws able to capture the dynamics of the abradable liner as well as the removal process arising during the interaction with a blade. The developed laws should then be useful to numerical works conducted for Snecma.
