This Ph.D. thesis presents a methodology for evaluating the multi-attribute performance profiles of building components, taking into account the entire set of possible sources of information which relate to geometric, phenomenological, functional and temporal aspects. The methodology comprises four steps : * Qualitative analysis: a review of the possible degradation scenarios is completed; * Quantitative analysis applied temporally: the duration and the probability of occurrence of the scenarios are evaluated and the interrelations between scenarios are managed; * Quantitative analysis of criticality: a means to order the scenarios; * Quantitative analysis of performance: a means to obtain multi-attribute performance profiles. The methodology encompasses methods, databases and representation tools that can be independently applied. It is applied to the evaluation of a fixed window, a concrete wall, a brick wall and a combined system comprised of a concrete wall incorporating a fixed window.
