This research brings into question the interaction between the built space and the usersby analysing their lived experience. The main field of study is set around theproblematic of the situated movements of the users in urban public spaces, and moreprecisely the various behaviours of the pedestrians in intermediary public spaces. Wewonder how built space is experienced by the users. We make the hypothesis that thequality of the pedestrians' movement could reveal the physical and sensitivecharacteristics of space. Thus, this quality could validate the potential qualities of builtspace. This is why the corporal mobility is an essential element to study, bothanalytically and methodologically. It enables us to apprehend on the one hand theambiances of the built space, and on the other hand its functional qualities. As a resultof this research, we propose an index of sensory-motor phenomena, in order to set up aconvenient tool for architectural and urban design. This index lists different perceptionsand feelings of built space observed through the lived experiences of the pedestrians.
