This anthropological investigation is about our way of living and speaking music together, with musical categories. Its contextualisation leads us to an ethnographic survey at the interface between the written and the oral : how are musical categories used to build and acknowledge communauties of life ? From the sociological uses of the category amplified music to a reflexive modelisation of one occurrence of the category techno, from a grammatical investigation about the differences we make in our music to an experimental work on the differences we make in our ways of listening, from a criticism of the construction of the records shelves we come back to history as an area of pratices, the six chapters that compose this investigation can be read as six incursions into a spoken world, as many ways for us to produce this text as readers.
