The general scope of our research is to present an apparatus for thetreatment of a large corpus of texts in hypertext form, implemented online asaWeb site accessible to everybody. The apparent simplicity of this descriptioncould lead one to think that it is merely « anotherWeb site » presenting freelyaccessible electronic texts online.The first object of study is in fact the analysis of the new uses of acorpus of literature in electronic format. In fact, the development of this siteresults fromthinking of hypertext systems, within the framework of the studyof the cognitive activities involved in reading and comprehension, throughanalysing reading paths and the consequent construction of meaning.Our analysis also involves the construction modes of digital libraries. Thiscombines both technical aspects and those of cultural heritage.
