The point of departure of the paper is the conception of reading and meta-reading of a literary hypermedia the procedural model develops. The paper proposes a semiotic conception of the work in which the whole technical devices of communication plays a role of sign the paper calls “work sign”. This signifiant of this sign uses the semiotic functioning of an other system of signs or the physical behaviour of the support of an other system of signs. The paper applies this concept to analyse some works and to describe in semiotic terms the features of double-reading ands meta-reading.
