Hutongs (Drum and Bell tower neighbourhood)

The Drum and Bell Tower Neighborhood, or Gulou, is located in a central area of Old Beijing. It's one of the few surviving examples of traditional culture that has so far escaped demolition. Due to the city's urban transformation during the last two decades, entire neighborhoods have disappeared and most of its residents have been displaced to the city suburbs.
