At the end of 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th, all the vocational training's convinced leaders are agree that it is essential to join theoretical and practical education. In front of the continuous critical regarding the distance between apprenticeship and professional activity, they want to promote work's training. Therefore, there is a gap between institutional idea and educational applications. Armentières' laboratory of the Ecole nationale professionnelle, which is reformed in 1905, allows to measure precisely this difference. School's responsibles try to use applied science in the service of industry. This laboratory becomes very important in the relationships between textile manufacturers and technical education's leaders.
