This volume brings together ten interviews conducted by students from the Faculty of History of Lyon 2 with migrants. The thread that has structured interviews is the various facets of their arrival and settling in France: the initial decision and the conditions of travel; arrival in France, and issues related to language learning for non-Francophones, the ties with family and aid agencies, as well as relations with the countries of origin, housing conditions, any manifestations of racism; projects back home as manifestations of loneliness . This volume is organized into two parts. The first is the analysis of the interviews in ten major themes. The second includes the full transcript of the interviews, which are listed in alphabetical order of the persons solicited.
