Les fondements de la marginalisation d'Elizabeth Sawyer, la "Sorcière d'Edmondon", dramatisée par Dekker, Ford and Rowley (1621)

A study of the Jacobean dramatisation of the story of a "real" witch in relation to the socio-cultural background, as well as the pamphlet by Henry Goodcole which furnished the playwrights with their immediate source. The play is shown to highlight and to call into question the relation between a marginalised woman and the underlying superstitions and fears which contributed to her condemnation.
