Study of the markers of the present time (verb tenses and adverbs) in a selection of languages (English, German, French, Breton, Tagalog). When it comes to referring to the present, languages diverge in the way in which their grammars enact the intersubjective relation (do the speakers share the same view of the present?) and the dialogic relation (does the speaker refer to immediate subjective presence or to the abstract, collective and cultural present?). The linguistic "present" is not given but construed as a complex set of interactive parameters which include the social dimension.
