A marble capital now in the Louvre coming from the church of St. Geneviève in Paris has been reused as a spolia from the basilica of the VIth Century in the early gothic choir, deeply recut to show Daniel in the lion's den. Stylistic comparisons with other parisian churches such as Saint-Aignan, Saint-Germain-des-Prés or Saint-Martin-des-Champs, extended to Sens, exemplify the efficiency of ecclesiastical relationships in the region. Moreover, we propose the hypothese of a same sculptor creating the marble capital and one of the capitals of the ambulatory of the cathedral of Sens.
