Emotion et propagande autour de la mort du prince de Condé (Jarnac, 13 mars 1569)

This communication discusses the emotive impact, on the Catholic side, after the death of Louis de Bourbon, prince of CondÈ, killed during the battle of Jarnac (1569). It focuses on the celebrations, the apologetic discourses and printed literature glorifying the death of this Prince of the Blood, which is perceived as the beginning of the extinction of the Reform in France. In this perspective, it analyses the effort to strengthen the Catholic mobilization in the context of war, when, on the contrary, the Protestant side sees the assassination of the Protestant leader as un clear sign of the radicalization of violence, aiming at its destruction.
