After discussing the contradictions and difficulties of the new cultural approach to porn studies, this paper analyzes the seriality of the pornographic websites' videos from a formal perspective. It describes the global functioning of what appears at first to be a collection of heterogeneous units and demonstrates that even though the fragments are not part of a story, the serial repetition of images creates coherence between them. The Asian category of gay pornography is here used as a paradigmatic example.
