On the syntax-prosody interface, this paper uses the notion of sentence as a predicative act associated with an enunciative modality (LG1993) as well as the notion of period as a higher ranking prosodic integration unit (L&V 2002). These notions will be used to syntactically analyse intonative segments. To do so, I shall use prosodic units and semantic and discursive ones and I shall only deal with what is called "condensation cases", i.e. cases when a "period" unit encompasses several "sentence" units, and more precisely two "sentences", because his paper is the first step towards a classification of the different means available to connect several sentences with each other so that they make sense, and of the types of predication resorted to to do so. The aim of this paper is thus to bring out the various possible types of sentences within periods, following semantical and discursive criteria, but also using syntactical elements.
