The classification of Oïl dialects is revisited under the light of cladistics, mainly on the basis of syllable structure and the properties of simple and complex nuclei, according to basic principles of structural and generative phonology. Gillieron & Edmond's 1910 ALF provides the data, in this experimental endeavour to revisit the classification of Oïl dialects, an important network of Gallo-romance dialects to which the standard variety of French belongs to. Results address current trends in phonological typology and Romance phonology.
