Of all the continents, Europe is the one whose definition regularly gives rise to the most heated controversy. Where does it begin? Where does it end? This geopolitics of Europe deals with the composite territory stretching from the Atlantic to vast Russia. Its configuration has been profoundly reshaped since the end of the Cold War. The 27-member European Union is one of the key players, alongside a range of states and institutions that contribute to a complex European dynamic.
