Mathematical model for advanced CDA and takeoff procedures minimizing aircraft environmental impact

The objective of this paper is to develop a mathematical optimal control model to find and evaluate optimized flight paths in order to minimize aircraft noise levels and fuel consumption during approaches and departures. The developed optimization method and numerical algorithms are given and analyzed. Aircraft flight dynamics and trajectories have been considered. The advanced continuous descent approach CDA has been found to be the optimal approach procedure. Its performance has been presented and discussed in comparison with standard procedures. The merits of optimal take-of flight paths have been also performed and analyzed. Keywords: aircraft noise abatement, fuel consumption, flight path, optimal control.
