Préface aux lettres de voyage en URSS de Marguerite et Jean-Richard Bloch

Summer 34. The French leftist intellectual Jean-Richard Bloch attended the First Congress of the Soviet Writers presided by Maxim Gorki (The Congress of Socialism Realism). With his wife Marguerite he spent several weeks in Moscow and visited the area of Caucasus (Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan). During this long journey they wrote to their friends and family. The article presents the journey and the source (BNF) published for the first time in the "Cahiers Jean-Richard Bloch" N°19. Hidden during the war the letters are a very rich testimony about the relationship between Foreigners and "Stalinist Westernizers" during this period and about the Soviet utopia.
