The issue of over-education (especially for graduate students) is a recurrent one, whose both political and scientific relevance is great. This note sets a state of the art concerning the technical difficulties linked to the assessment of over-education; it synthesizes then the main results in that field, and the sometimes divergent interpretations of this phenomena.
