Multi-criteria decision analysis for prioritizing road network maintenance interventions

As road operators are increasingly working with more financial constraints, the cost of all necessary maintenance interventions on the road network invariably exceeds the available budget. Therefore, ranking these interventions according to their priority is seen as an important step of maintenance programming. However, this ranking requires multiple criteria decision analysis. In this paper, the ELECTRE III multiple criteria decision method is used to compute a priority order of interventions reflecting the user's preferences regarding the importance of each criterion and the handling of the imprecision of roads condition data.
