Der Untertan, satire de Buddenbrooks ou correctif satirique ?

Der Untertan is generated by the same trauma as Buddenbrooks, the story of the fall of a bourgeois dynasty. Thomas Mann discusses the advent of the Empire, Heinrich Mann the advent of Wilhelminism. Despite the difference in tone, the two novels are quite similar in their social criticism.
