Facing up to the increasing demand of public authorities to favour sustainable development and reduction of energy consumption, project contracting officials are offering technical solutions. Among them, cold mixes treated with bitumen emulsion are more and more used for low-traffic roads. Nevertheless, these are known for presenting weaker mechanical properties than those of standard hot mixes.
