The purpose of this study was to answer two questions: What is the effect of bed rest on the circumference of the lower limbs? What is the effect of one session of a routinely used method of compressive digital lymphatic stimulation on this same circumference? There were three study groups with 33, 33 and 34 subjects. To respond to the first interrogation, two groups were compared: a healthy young population and a pathological population. For the second question, a third group of patients with a pathology were treated with one session of compressive digital lymphatic stimulation. In the two situations, the difference in the circumference of the lower limbs was noted. The results showed that both bed rest and digital stimulation had a statistically significant effect on the measured circumferences. The differences observed after one treatment session were significantly greater than those after bed rest.
