Developing a background subtraction method, researchers must design each step and choose the features in relation to the critical situations they want to handle. All these critical situations generates imprecision and uncertainties in all the process of background subtraction. Therefore, some authors have recently introduced fuzzy concepts in the different steps of background subtraction as follows: 1) Fuzzy Background Modeling, 2) Fuzzy Foreground Detection, 3) Fuzzy Background Maintenance and 4) Fuzzy Post-Processing. This chapter provides an extensive survey on background subtraction methods using fuzzy techniques.
