L'utilisation du scoring de crédit et du scoring de pauvreté par les institutions de microfinance dans le monde

In this paper we present the results of a survey of microfinance institutions from developing countries conducted to measure the level of use of credit scoring and poverty scoring in these institutions. This study showed that 30.1% of institutions use the technique of credit scoring and 35.4% use the technique of poverty scoring. 24.8% of microfinance institutions use both. We expected to see lower percentages. Only 8.8% of microfinance institutions declared that they don't use credit scoring and have no intention to use the technique in the future and 15% declared no interest in using poverty scoring. For microfinance institutions that do not use credit scoring yet but intend to use the technique in the short or long term, the most important obstacle is the lack of a consistent database to extract empirical evidence. Lack of budget / expensive pricing of consultancies in this area is the second cause of the delay in implementing credit scoring. The third cause is the lack of expertise and human resources necessary to develop credit scoring tools and their implementation. The level of use of credit scoring in microfinance indicates the emergence of an industry, whose demand requires increased supply to lower prices. Better promotion of the concept of credit scoring amongst the microfinance institutions is necessary as 27.4% have a false understanding what credit scoring is.
