It appears that the area of Church music, although not completely neglected, has not yet given rise to the research works it deserves regarding its importance in the modern era, despite of its large production for the 130 Cathedrals, as well as many collegial or parish churches and monasteries of the French Kingdom. The MUSEFREM research project (Musiques d'Église en France à l'époque moderne, funded by the French Agence Nationale de la Recherche) gathers five groups of historians and musicologists around issues related to Church music creation in France during the baroque era. Systematic studies on careers and on contexts of works' production and diffusion can usefully complete studies of the few surviving scores. Therefore, we propose to present a panel of church musicians' careers and work that we can be viewed as representative, considering the results of dedicated software and digital tools that have been created or strongly extended in the context of MUSEFREM.
