Tracer des frontières à Djibouti

From the identification of some boundaries and frontiers of the actual djiboutian space (previously Côte française des Somalis, then Territoire français des Afars et des Issas), this book visits the history of Djibouti under the aspect of territorial construction and how they impact on inhabitants life, from travellers narratives in the middle of the 19th Century up to the begining of the 21th. From the study of five boundaries (ethnical boundaries, internal boundaries, international ground boundaries, railway and maritime boundaries) this book shows how they have been discovered or invented, within the general making of contemporary political spaces in the Horn of Africa, then how they have been materialised. It describes and analyses their evolutions - including eventual consolidation - particularly coercion exercised upon the inhabitants. It provides so a first rough for an history of Djiboutians.
